FAQ

STEAM Camps Frequently Asked Questions:

How to register? Please complete a separate online STEAM Camps registration form for each child. Here are a few important things to keep in mind:

  • After clicking “Submit,” you will be redirected to PayPal for payment. If you cancel or do not complete payment, your child’s registration will be automatically removed from the system.
  • Please use the same email address for the registration form and PayPal. Failure to do so will result in your child’s registration being automatically deleted, as the system requires matching email addresses for payment and registration.

Are the STEAM camps run by the school’s teachers? Or Are the school teachers teaching at the STEAM Camps? No, the Executive Director runs the camps with a team of recent graduates and university students (at least in their second year) in partnership with the Canada Summer Jobs federal initiative. This program provides young adults in Canada with opportunities to gain meaningful work experience. The initiative supports Women In STEM, helps bridge employment barriers for BIPOC individuals, and exposes immigrants to the Canadian work environment. Together, they guide campers through the world of STEAM with unique, concept-based daily projects and experiments that do not repeat.

STEAM Camps 2025 is fortunate to have a group of new graduates and students from diverse fields, including BSc Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Sociology, Biology, and Business Administration. For more information about the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative, please follow this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/news/2025/06/backgrounder-canada-summer-jobs-2025.html

No one is better suited to lead our STEAM projects and experiments with campers than these brilliant young adults, who are actively pursuing careers in STEM or STEAM. They have conducted research in these fields and are deeply passionate about advancing the boundaries of STEAM concepts and innovations.

My kids do not attend the school. Are they allowed to participate? Absolutely! The school’s STEAM camps are open to all children in Calgary, regardless of whether they attend the school. It’s our way of inviting every child in Calgary to experience what our school has to offer.

What is the weekly attendance at the camp? We accommodate a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 children per group: STEAM Explorers (3-5 years old), STEAM Builders (6-8 years old), STEAM Innovators (9-12 years old), and STEAM Achievers (13-15 years old).

How can I check if there are available spots? If the week you are interested in for the camps is still selectable, spots are still available.

Do we receive subsidies from Childcare (Ministry of Children Services) if our child or children attend the camps? No, subsidies are unavailable since the camps are weekly programs, not full-time.
